EMBARC

  • Description

EMBARC’s mission is to help refugees expand their world of possibilities through advocacy, education and community development throughout the state of Iowa. As Iowa’s first refugee-led social service organization, EMBARC offers support and resources for refugees in need. These resources include a wide range of educational and healthcare programs, as well as access to housing, food, job opportunities, mentoring and more. They work to build stronger refugee communities, which in turn helps build a stronger Iowa.

EMBARC provides critical services to refugees, including; English classes and interpretation, health and social services, workforce assistance, parent education and youth services. In addition, EMBARC has quickly provided assistance to refugees impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including those who lost jobs, faced eviction, needed food, struggled with virtual schooling, and required medical assistance.

All gifts made to EMBARC support refugee-led programs that promote leadership and empowerment in refugee communities in Iowa.

  • $25 helps one person get to work with a monthly bus pass
  • $50 helps five refugee community navigators get training to serve their community
  • $100 helps fourteen families sign up their child for preschool
